Who we are
Brazilian born Carlos Queiroz created C A Atelier in 1998. Carlos started learning, at an early age, with European wood carving masters from Germany, Switzerland and Portugal, who taught him the techniques of wood sculpting, carving, turning, veneering, and all the traditional forms of furniture making.
Upon his arrival in New York in 1986, Carlos began restoring old homes but soon missed his passion of cabinet making and started working with New York’s most renowned architects and interior decorators such as Parish Hadley, Robert Stern or Sam Lopata, among others on a variety of small and large cabinet making projects directly. Private clients such as Paloma Picasso or John Mac Enroe commissioned most projects.
In 1986 Carlos met two of New York’s top interior designers -Juan Montoya and Ruben de Sacevedra- with whom he started working very closely. Rapidly, his reputation grew and professionals such as Karl Springer sought him to create additional accessories and furniture for his New York showroom.
During the years, Carlos Queiroz has gained the respect and experience that has passed on through the superior craftsmanship of the pieces he creates in his studio.
